An exquisite and highly sought-after coffee, known for its stunning floral aromatics, delicate body, and complex fruity sweetness.
The Geisha (or Gesha) varietal, originally from Ethiopia, gained worldwide fame after being 'rediscovered' in Panama's Boquete region. Grown at high altitudes in the volcanic soils of the Chiriquí highlands, Panama Geisha is renowned for its exceptional cup quality, often commanding record prices. It typically presents an intensely floral aroma, dominated by jasmine, alongside notes of bergamot (reminiscent of Earl Grey tea). The flavor profile is complex and layered, featuring tropical fruits (like papaya, mango, or passionfruit), stone fruits (peach, apricot), and a distinct honey-like sweetness. The body is often light and delicate, almost tea-like, with a bright yet refined acidity. Usually processed washed to preserve its delicate nuances, though natural processed Geishas offer intense fruit-forward profiles.
Geisha (Gesha) earned its international fame after being cultivated in Panama, though it originated in the Gesha forest of Ethiopia. This rare variety is revered for its exceptionally complex and aromatic cup profile, featuring a delicate, tea-like body and explosive floral notes of jasmine and bergamot. Its extraordinary flavor commands some of the highest prices in the coffee world.
